AUBURN UNIVERSITY: Auburn, Alabama L I M I T E D: 100 giclée prints CUSTOM CARVED BARK WOODEN FRAME SELECTED BY THE ARTIST. PRINTS ARE TRIPLE MATTED IN SCHOOL COLORS AND PROTECTED WITH HIGH-QUALITY GLASS. FRAME ALSO MATCHES MALKOFF'S TIGER - WAR EAGLE.
WHAT IS A GICLÉE? Giclée prints represent a significant elevation in quality printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclée printing process provides better color and tonal accuracy than other means of reproduction. The quality is such that many major international museums accept giclées for exhibition. How It's Done : Typically giclée prints are created using professional 8-color to 12-color ink-jet printers. These modern technology printers are capable of producing incredibly detailed prints for both the fine art and photographic markets. Giclée prints are sometimes mistakenly referred to as Iris prints, which are 4-color ink-jet prints from a printer pioneered in the late 1970s. The Quality : The quality of the giclée print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries. TOOMER'S CORNER OAKS Not long after Stephen Malkoff finished his rendition of Tiger - War Eagle news broke about the attempted poisoning of the Auburn University's iconic Toomer's Corner oak trees which have served as a part of the school's tradition for more than 40-years. Shortly after the news of the poisoning, Malkoff began to artistically document the trees which serve as an entrance way to the university. The trees also are a rallying point should the Auburn Tigers win a football game which results in the trees being strung in toilet paper. Experts continue to hold out hope that the two historic trees may survive the intentional herbicide spraying said to have been caused by an angered University of Alabama football fan. Hand crafted in exquisite detail each print is signed and numbered by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Limited to only 5,000 prints and 100 giclées. This work of art will no doubt become a collectible as has previous Stephen Malkoff art. A portion of the proceeds will go to restore and protect historic trees throughout the United States. |
