St. Augustine, Florida
Unframed Print Size: 22" x 16"
When Stephen Malkoff took his artists pencil in hand he knew he was about to capture both a magnificent live oak and one of the most remarkable trees in North America. Reputed to be well over 600 years old, The Old Senator was there during the that dramatic moment in 1513 when Juan Ponce de Leon finally discovered Saint Augustine's famed Fountain of Youth, a mere 600 feet from the tree.
Considering that this tree is located just a mile or so from the coast it is a testament to the tree's strength that it has survived storms, hurricanes, and time to be one of Florida's oldest and largest trees.
This tree is located in the parking lot of a local hotel but is publicly accessible.
